Electrician in Mt. Airy, NC

Mt. Airy is a community that takes pride in its heritage, and Dausman Electric shares that same respect for doing things right the first time. We've served homes and businesses throughout Surry County for years, and we understand the particular electrical challenges that come with this area's older housing stock, rural property setups, and mountain-adjacent weather patterns.

Many Mt. Airy homes were built in the mid-twentieth century, which means there's a significant population of homes with outdated wiring systems — aluminum branch circuits, knob-and-tube remnants, or two-wire ungrounded outlets that don't meet current safety standards. We help homeowners understand what they have, what the risks are, and what options exist — from targeted upgrades to full rewiring where necessary. We never recommend more work than your home actually needs.

Surry County's rural character means many properties have long service runs from the road to the home, detached outbuildings that need their own electrical service, and in some cases well pumps or agricultural equipment that require dedicated circuits. Dausman Electric has experience with all of these rural electrical scenarios — sub-panels in barns and shops, weatherproof outdoor circuits, generator hookups for whole-property backup power, and coordination with Surry-Yadkin Electric for grid connection.

Standby generators are particularly valuable in Mt. Airy given the area's exposure to winter ice storms and the relative distance from utility infrastructure in some rural areas. When the power goes out in Surry County, it sometimes stays out longer than in more densely populated areas. A whole-home standby generator ensures you never have to worry about frozen pipes, spoiled food, or being without heat in the middle of a January ice event.

For Mt. Airy's commercial corridor along North Main Street and the surrounding business district, Dausman Electric handles everything from sign lighting and parking lot lighting to interior commercial wiring and panel upgrades for expanding businesses. We work with local business owners who want a contractor who shows up on time, communicates clearly, and leaves the job site clean.
